Preta Pretinha

Through our Entrepreneurship, Education and Exchange (EEE) at Living Proof we guide and mentor our partners into achieving their business and social goals. We are proud of our work with underserved communities, assisting them in their fight for equity and equal access business and education opportunities; to become community and business leaders.

Because many doll companies owned by Black women are marginalized and, therefore, have trouble finding the funding and market access, they need to compete in the marketplace. Having experience with marginalized entrepreneurs, Living Proof stepped in to help with Preta Pretinha to create “Happy Doll” project aimed at increasing the market access and exporting to the United States.

Preta Pretinha produces and sells handmade dolls: Black, Asian, Indigenous, Indian, Muslim, wheelchair users, among many others, and generates significant social impact by giving visibility to human diversity through its creations.  So much so that it serves public and private schools that use the dolls to address self-esteem issues, combat bullying, and incorporate their use into the curriculum.

It also serves various professionals such as doctors, psychologists, speech therapists, judges of the juvenile and family court, film and TV producers; as well as publishers, advertising agencies, organizations, universities, companies, and the entire corporate market in general. A universe of possibilities and creation, stemming from the relationship and interaction that only Preta Pretinha’s dolls can provide. Again, Preta Pretinha is Living Proof that ordinary people working together create extraordinary enterprises.
